Yota Tsuji Addresses Facing Winner Of Andrade El Idolo vs. Gabe Kidd: “I’d Like To Do It Overseas”

Kidd versus El Idolo is official.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling rolled out the complete match card for their New Beginning in Osaka show on February 11th. The card will feature a singles match between Gabe Kidd and AEW’s Andrade El Idolo.

The winner of that bout will secure a shot at Yota Tsuji’s IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. Tsuji addressed that during an interview with NJPW1972.com, which was done before the El Idolo/Kidd match was officially announced. He said whoever wins, he wants to face them overseas.

“If they do have that match with one another, and I face the winner for the Global Title, I’d like to do it overseas. If it happens to be Andrade (El Idolo), then it’s a new international name to me to face, and if it’s Gabe (Kidd), then it will be a chance to show the best of NJPW to a foreign audience, so it’ll be cool either way.”

Kidd first issued the challenge to Andrade at New Year Dash. Andrade is a member of United Empire, and Kidd is a part of Tsuji’s Unbound Company faction.
