Colby Corino Talks NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Aspirations, Wanting To Grow Out Of His Dad’s Shadow

Colby Corino wants to win the big one.

2026 kicked off with some big news for fans of NWA, as Colby Corino re-signed with the company on a multi-year deal.

Now, it appears that Corino is angling to win the company’s top prize soon. Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Corino explained his motivations and talked about wanting to grow out of his father’s shadow.

“When I was growing up and I lived with my dad, I used to go downstairs and on the mantle above the fireplace, he had a replica of the 10 pounds of gold. So every morning I’d wake up and I look at it. Then I won the Junior belt and my birthday gift that year was him giving me a replica of the Junior belt. I was able to put that up on my mantle. But I don’t think my mantle’s ever gonna be complete until I get the 10 pounds of gold up there too. It feels like shoes that I gotta fill. I’ve always wanted to grow out my dad’s shadow and in a way doing what he’s done and being and then being able to go further, that means a lot to me.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Corino talked about the recent closing of DEADLOCK Pro. Fans can check out his full comments by clicking here.
