Road Dogg discusses R-Truth’s contract not being renewed last year, noting that it made ‘perfect business sense’ to let him go.

In mid 2025, R-Truth would enter into contract talks with WWE and would be alerted to the idea that he would not be re-signed to the company upon his current contract expiring. Thanks to a swelling of fan support however, Truth would find himself re-signed to the company and returned at WWE Money In The Bank, where he would attack John Cena to continue their storyline that they began earlier last year.

While speaking in the Season 2 sneak peek of WWE: Unreal, Road Dogg noted that while it broke his heart to see him go, he felt that it ‘made perfect business sense’ to not renew Truth’s WWE contract.

“While it broke my heart, it made perfect business sense to not renew his contract. At his age, you might not get that reward back.”

Elsewhere in the same trailer, Truth noted that he was hurt by the whole ordeal. You can read more about that here.

WWE Unreal: Season 2 is set to be released on January 20th on Netflix.
