Chelsea Green wants to bring back the Attitude Era-style couple.
Matt Cardona made his full-time return to WWE on the January 2 episode of SmackDown, shocking fans around the world. Fans have started to speculate on a potential on-screen partnership between Cardona and his wife, Chelsea Green.
Speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri for a new interview, Green was asked about possibly teaming up with Cardona in WWE.
“I struggle with that all the time because obviously I’m currently with Ethan and my AAA Mixed Tag Team [titles]. So, you know, there’s always like a, are we in a big group or — I don’t know but I would love if Matt and I were together to really bring back the nasty Attitude Era couple. Just dirty and you’re like, they’re kinda of cool but why are they making out like that? Like Lita and Edge and stuff like that.
Mahjouri joked that Lita and Edge did a bit more than make out in WWE, referencing their in-ring sex celebration. Green responded by noting that everyone is still talking about that moment to this day.
“We love it. We love it, we’re still talking about it. The nostalgia runs so deep in WWE. One thing that fans love is a storyline that’s like brought back to life. They love to feel like they’re in on it and like they already know what’s going to happen or that they can relate it already. So, I think like a good attitude era couple would be great.”
