EVOLVE Men’s Champion Jackson Drake Recalls Being ‘Super Uptight’ About His Friend Je’Von Evans Being Signed To WWE Before Him

Drake was speaking about his involvement in a WrestleMania entrance.

Guest appearing on a recording of Peter Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat podcast was the reigning WWE EVOLVE Men’s Champion Jackson Drake.

As the conversation moved along, Drake spoke about being part of Drew McIntyre’s entrance at WrestleMania 40. He mentioned that at the time, he had been ‘super uptight’ about his friend Je’Von Evans being signed to WWE before he was.

“So I actually did extra work at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia… I was one of the swordsmen for Drew McIntyre. I think I was the first or second person at the top of the ramp.” Drake was asked if the day was awesome, and he replied, “Oh my God, dude, yeah, yeah! I was what? 21 years old? And I’m standing on the grandest stage of ‘em all, WrestleMania. That was my WrestleMania debut. At the time, I was super uptight that Je’Von (Evans) had gotten signed before me, and done all this stuff before me. But after that, I was like, ‘Okay, if nothing else, I can always say I made my WrestleMania debut before Je’Von,’ if nothing else.”

Continuing on the subject of Je’Von, Drake said there’s too much money that would be left on the table if they did not have a program.

“Oh, sure,” Drake responded when asked if he and Je’Von Evans spoke about the idea of them feuding. “I mean, the seed’s already been planted. If you watch the episode where I won the EVOLVE Championship, who gave it to me? Who handed it off to me? Je’Von did, exactly. There’s too much history, there’s too much money on the table there for somebody to just leave it. It’s gonna happen and it will be legendary. It’ll be everything everybody expects it to be and more.”

Drake and Evans’ history dates back to their time on the independent scene. Drake has been added to the WWE NXT roster. Evans is now on the Monday Night Raw roster.
