Powerhouse Hobbs Compares To AEW When MTV Was Just Starting Out

Powerhouse Hobbs compares AEW to MTV when it first started out as a TV channel.

Since it’s inception in 2019, All Elite Wrestling has been a company that has taken great pride in being an alternative in the world of professional wrestling and in 2025, continues to be one of the top companies in the industry.

While speaking during an interview with the Mega Powers podcast on the night of AEW Forbidden Door earlier this year, Powerhouse Hobbs was asked what sets AEW apart from other wrestling promotions, with one member of the AEW World Trios Champions comparing AEW to MTV when it just started out.

“We’re the alternative. It was like when MTV first started out, right? It was an alternative, right? Consistently playing music videos we’re consistently dominating wrestling. I mean, look at what we did tonight, set the attendance record at The O2 for professional wrestling. So, you know, we’re taking over, man. We’re that new flavor.”
