Liv Morgan Stalker Intends To “Introduce Expert Evidence At Trial Relating To A Mental Disease Or Defect”

New details about the Liv Morgan stalker case.

There’s an update on the Liv Morgan stalker case (via Mike Johnson of PWInsider). Shawn Chan, the man accused of stalking the current WWE star, may stand trial on January 12th, 2026, but a court filing on December 22nd could prevent that from happening.

The filing notes that Chan intends to “introduce expert evidence at trial relating to a mental disease or defect or any other mental condition of the defendant bearing on the issue of guilt.” It was mentioned in previous filings that Chan may file a notice under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 12.2(b), which is notice of an insanity defense that includes expert testimony.

Prosecutors argue that Chan’s attempt to go this route is ‘untimely’ and should be ignored. A pre-trial order established that all parties had until a certain period to file their motions, and with three weeks left to go until the trial, prosecutors are stating that it is too late for this door to be opened. They added that if the court agrees with Chan’s defense, they cannot go to trial until January 12th.

Chan is facing up to five years in prison for interstate domestic violence. He traveled from Canada to Florida and showed up at Liv Morgan’s home. Extensive details about that can be read here.
