Kyle Fletcher Discusses Taking Inspiration From The Miz’s Promo Style: “I Still Think He’s One Of The Best”

Kyle Fletcher looks at multiple talents with high regard as it relates to promos.

A new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet was rolled out, featuring former AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher. Among the subjects touched on was promos, and Fletcher named multiple talents whom he takes inspiration from in that specific branch of pro wrestling.

He further commented on holding The Miz in high regard with promos. He stated that a lot of people have things to say about Miz, but Fletcher still feels he’s one of the best on the microphone. He named John Cena as the overall best and went on to mention Hangman Adam Page, Roman Reigns, MJF and AEW World Champion Samoa Joe.

“This always gets a bit of a laugh. Growing up — I’m a little bit younger than a lot of wrestling fans. One of the people that first drew me in with their promos was The Miz. A lot of people have things to say about him now, but I still think he’s one of the best. I’ve always thought that.” Van Vliet mentioned that Miz is just starting to get his flowers, and Fletcher responded, “Totally, and that’s always how it happens as well. It’s like, right when they’re on the way out, it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, you know what? He was pretty good…’ But I was 12 years old in 2011 going, ‘This is the best! ‘I am awesome!!’ So yeah, that was probably my first one. I think (John) Cena is far and away the best promo guy I’ve ever seen. The stuff in his final run, there have been a couple where I’ve just been sitting there glued to the screen, just like, ‘How is this guy just so amazing at what he does?’ Roman (Reigns) obviously now and then there’s Hangman (Adam Page), I think is one of the best guys on the mic. (Samoa) Joe, every time he’s on the mic, I’m so drawn into him. MJF as well. Those are kind of, like, probably where I draw the most inspiration from I’d say — those guys.”

Fletcher was last in action at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming, where he fell in defeat to ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey in a Continental Classic tournament bout.
