Deonna Purrazzo Reflects On 10 Year Journey To Winning ROH Women’s Pure Championship

At ROH Final Battle, Deonna Purrazzo proved herself by becoming the first ROH Pure Women’s Champion. While Lee Moriarty and Nigel McGuinness were battling it out in a 30 minute iron match, Purrazzo opened the show against Billie Starkz proving the women’s pure division is just as important as the men’s.
“Ring of Honor has been my home in some way, shape, or form for the last 10 years,” Purrazzo said. “It gave me a place to grow infront of all your eyes, it gave me a place to fail, to learn, to win, to lose, but most importantly it taught me how to fight. To fight for what I wanted because I wanted women back in Ring of Honor desperately.”
Purrazzo continued, “The girls that I started this division with 10 years ago, we could’ve never fathomed there would be a ROH Women’s Pure Championship, let alone also a Women’s World Championship. And now, I have outlasted them all.”
Back in 2015, Purrazzo made her ROH debut in a dark match against Mandy Leon. She continued to work with the company for the next few years, but didn’t become champion until 2022. That reign lasted 115 days as she now went on to make history and win the tournament to become the first Women’s Pure Champion.
Purrazzo called out Queen Aminata, someone she hopes to be her first challenger. Aminata was forced to withdraw from the tournament earlier in the week due to a neck injury.
