James Ellsworth On Making Chris Jericho’s List: It Wasn’t In The Script, I Think It’s The Most Memorable List Moment Of All Time

James Ellsworth says Chris Jericho putting him on the list was one of the most memorable segments in the list’s history.

Before Survivor Series 2016, all members from Team Raw and Team SmackDown were in the ring. Jericho had already put AJ Styles and his hair on the list. He then saw Ellsworth on the ringside and didn’t like how “weird” he looked, so he put him on the list as well.

Speaking to R3 Jonah on Rewind Recap Relive, Ellsworth said he wasn’t originally supposed to go on the list. But backstage, Jericho told him the plan and said that if they ran out of time, he should just blame Jericho for it. It was a popular segment, and something he’s often reminded of by the fans as well.

“Sometimes I’ll be in like Target or Walmart and somebody [will] yell, ‘You just made the list.’ I get reminded of that moment every day of my life. I remember right before we walked out, Jericho walked up to me. He said, ‘Hey, James, I don’t know if we have time for this, but I’m going to put you on the list. So, if we go over time because I’m going to put you on the list, blame it on me, tell them it was my fault.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ Because it wasn’t in the script, for me to get put on the list, and he went out there, and it’s funny. I think it’s the most memorable list moment of all time.”
