John Cena: Just Because I Feel A Certain Way About Vince McMahon Doesn’t Excuse Him From Being Accountable For His Actions

John Cena and Vince McMahon worked closely together during Cena’s time in WWE as the face of the company for a decade.

In January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE that accused McMahon of sex trafficking and sexual assault. McMahon resigned from his position in WWE and TKO following the lawsuit and has not returned.

Speaking to Joe Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience, Cena was asked if he thought there was a possibility that Vince would return at some point.

“I know, now, he’s out. In my eyes, I’d like to think that time heals everything and I believe in forgiveness. I also believe in looking at the body of work. I also know there is a lot of fragile stuff going on there.

“I’ve learned to become a little more accountable for what I say, and just because I feel a certain way about a person doesn’t excuse them from being accountable for their actions. Just because he did start ‘all this gangster shit,’ doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be accountable for his actions. Let’s figure out what that means, and then figure out if we can move forward and bring it back in the fold or if it stays the way it is.”

While making the media rounds, Cena reflected on a lesson he learned from McMahon. You can find his full comments here.

John Cena is set to compete in his retirement match on December 13th.
