Dezmond Xavier Says Support After WWE Release Was Humbling, ‘You Usually Don’t Get That Appreciation Until You’re Gone’
On October 10th, it was announced that Wes Lee (Dezmond Xavier) had been released by WWE. Wes was a former NXT North American Champion, and upon the news coming out, Wes received an outpouring of support from his peers.
Wes quickly landed on his feet, returning to TNA as Dezmond Xavier and reuniting with The Rascalz.
Speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Dez was asked about the love he received after he was released.
“Humbling. You don’t really get to get a valid gratification of things we’ve contributed to pro wrestling, usually, until you’re gone, when people can look back and appreciate what you’ve contributed. For people to understand what I’ve been able to contribute, not only within the five years I’ve had in WWE, but the 12-13 years I’ve been doing this in my entire career, is great. There are people that talk about the early TNA days that I’ve had. The time period that Zach and I have been traveling the world and they were able to see us that way. We pride ourselves on being trailblazers for what it is that we do. We took a style that a lot of people could not do, and we elevated it in a way that everybody has wanted to do it. We’re not going to say we’re one of the most pivotal tag teams in pro wrestling, but we’ve been a pretty big catalyst. We aren’t done yet,” he said.
Dez has been teaming with Zachary Wentz on the independent scene, and Myron Reed and Trey Miguel in TNA.
