Skylar Raye Says Advice From Mickie James Successfully Set Her Up For Season Two Of WWE LFG

Skylar Raye speaks on working with Mickie James and The Undertaker.
During season one of WWE LFG, Skylar Raye (Dani Sekelsky) was on Mickie James’ team before being eliminated in episode 14. The following year, Raye joined Undertaker’s team and won season two alongside Shiloh Hill.
Speaking with Going Ringside for a new interview, Raye spoke about working with Mickie James and how it prepared her for her stint with Undertaker.
“First season, working with Mickie was amazing. Being with an athlete, especially a professional athlete before coming into the building, you’d think that if I’m not at the top of what I’m doing, I’m not good at what I’m doing. Learning from Mickie, she was in developmental for 6+ years before getting that first TV debut. Hearing how women’s wrestling was structured then of you’re about to walk out and she’d tell us [that] two minutes has been cut and that you have two minutes when you get out there. The way that she talked about how she seized every opportunity kind of set me on my path to not take any opportunity for granted when it came to LFG. I think that really successfully set me up for season two.”
Raye went on to share some of the advice that she recieved from ‘The Deadman’.
As they showed in the show, I really wanted Undertaker in season two. I just felt like he had that edge and has that edge that I was missing and that he would pull that out of me because I saw the way he worked with Shiloh and Bailey in the previous season and just how he tries to pull out all those things that somebody doesn’t even know that they have. Really, I think what I learned from Undertaker is that it’s about the moments. Coming from an athletic background, it’s like, ‘What can I throw in this ring? What move can I do? How can I look cool?’ For him, being 6”7, he always told me that he didn’t have those crazy moves in his set, it was more about how to create a moment that the audience will always remember. That really stuck with me because now I really just try to connect with the people and try to create those relationships with the audience so that they can feel for me and I can create that story for them.”
