Brian Myers discusses Matt Cardona’s recent WWE appearance as part of The Last Time Is Now tournament.
On the November 14th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Matt Cardona would return to WWE as Zack Ryder to participate in the Last Time Is Now tournament in a surprise appearance. However, one person close to Cardona figured it out all on his own, bringing a confession out of Cardona.
While speaking to WhatCulture in a new interview, Brian Myers was asked about Cardona’s appearance in the tournament, noting that he figured it out and Cardona admitted that he was appearing with WWE.
“Yeah, I’ll tell the full, he doesn’t want the full story out there till one day. It’s too fresh, which I agree. It’s like watching WWE Unreal, that’s six months, a year plus later, they’re giving away all the secrets. So he’s waiting. I can say that I did a little detective work and figured it out way before most and I caught him and he admitted to it. So I was very much in the know. Thrilled for him. I know that’s something that meant a lot to him and something he’d been obviously pining for. Selfishly, I wish he was Matt Cardona representing TNA Wrestling, not Zack Ryder. I think he’s done a ridiculous amount of hard work to kind of erase what Matt-, what Zack Ryder was and truly become Matt Cardona in the wrestling business you know so I do think that was a bizarre choice and a little bit of a step backwards but at the end of the day very cool accomplishment to even be thought of to be you know represented by John Cena in this tournament and make his way back to WWE after five years so obviously very cool.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Myers spoke about Leon Slater and his potential. You can read more about that here.
