Je’Von Evans Discusses Being In WWE/John Cena ‘Last Time Is Now’ Tournament, Facing GUNTHER In First Round
Evans is looking forward to the opportunity.
A tournament titled ‘The Last Time is Now’ is underway to determine who will face John Cena in his final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th.
One of the first-round matches will pit the returning GUNTHER against NXT’s Je’Von Evans. Going into the bout, Evans stopped by The Masked Man Show to discuss the upcoming match. He said he found out he’d be in the tournament on the day it was announced.
Evans added that when he was on the indies, he watched GUNTHER matches to learn how to work with bigger talent.
“Honestly, it’s a blessing. The Garden — I wasn’t expecting to wrestle in The Garden. Let alone be in a tournament, you feel me? So, I think it’s cool. I found out that I was in the tournament that day. Like, literally a couple hours before the show… And then, I found out that it was in The Garden, so, I automatically got nervous. The Garden, it don’t get bigger than The Garden.
Man, wrestling at MSG (makes me more nervous than wrestling GUNTHER) … I’m excited. I’m nervous of course and of course when I get there, I’ma have so many butterflies and all but, I’ve literally watched GUNTHER for a very long time. I was watching GUNTHER on the indies. Because I wanted to learn how to work against bigger people. So, he was a great example of that. But I’m excited. I know we’re gonna be in a hard fight. We gonna be scrapping. I ain’t backing down either, straight like that. But, I’m so excited. Like I said, this a great opportunity to showcase what I can do, and I know there’s a lot of people that are looking at this fight kind of like David and Goliath. But, we know how the David and Goliath story ended, and I am planning on redoing that story.”
Fightful reported that after GUNTHER lost the World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at SummerSlam, he underwent nose surgery.
