Hiroshi Tanahashi Says He Was ‘A Little Jealous’ Of Kenny Omega When Omega First Arrived To NJPW

On the road to Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final match at Wrestle Kingdom 20, he recorded a series of interviews with wrestlers he has history with. Those interviews are being uploaded to NJPW WORLD.
One of the individuals who stopped by to chat with Tanahashi was Kenny Omega. As they were chatting, Tanahashi shared that he was ‘a little jealous’ of Omega when Omega first arrived at NJPW.
“And then Kenny came in. I was a little jealous of you — of your athleticism, and your looks,” Tanahashi laughed. “You had it all together. But from that first impression I had, I never imagined that years later, we would be in the Tokyo Dome main event. Life is crazy.”
Tanahashi’s final opponent has yet to be announced. At the Wrestle Kingdom 20 press conference, he told the public to wait a bit longer for the announcement.
