Excalibur: There Is Always A Chance PWG Could Return. Never Say Never

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) was one of the top independent promotions that helped breed the likes of The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson), Kevin Owens, Adam Cole, Sami Zayn, and more.
The promotion has been on hiatus since 2023, but co-owner Excalibur won’t rule out a return.
Speaking to Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson on What Happened When, Excalibur was asked about the evolution of PWG’s business.
“It was razor-thin margins the entire way. That’s the best way to describe you. The fact that it became known as a place where, if you wanted to Zack Sabre Jr wrestle his first significant match in the US, you either had to buy a ticket or buy a DVD. Right up until the very end, did not want to do streaming or live distribution. The business model was the same. A lot of that was Super Dragon’s stubbornness. Stubbornness, genius, whatever you want to call it. It was that way until the end. I don’t want to say the end because nothing has been made official. PWG has been on hiatus for a couple of years, but there is always a chance it could come back. Never say never. The business model didn’t evolve all that much. That’s why we were so desperate to sell every one of those 500 seats in Legion Hall,” said Excalibur.
Excalibur has done commentary for AEW since its inception in 2019.
Elsewhere during the podcast, Schiavone detailed the Hangman Page Halloween angle. You can find his full comments here.
