Shinedown’s Brent Smith And Zach Myers Reflect On Their Relationship With WWE And Kane Being Their Hometown’s Mayor
Shinedown’s Brent Smith and Zach Myers reflect on the band’s strong relationship with WWE and the time the band surprised Smith by having Glenn Jacobs, WWE’s Kane, give him the key to Knox County, Tennessee.
WWE has used Shinedown’s music for the last 20 years. Several pay-per-view theme songs, including some WrestleManias, had their soundtrack provided by Shinedown. During a recent interview with Guitar Interactive magazine, Shinedown’s Brent Smith and Zach Myers reflected on their strong relationship with WWE, thanking the wrestling promotion for using their music for so long.
Smith said, “WWE has actually played every single that we’ve ever released off of a record. They’ve always been super, super supportive of this band, and we appreciate it.”
On August 28, 2022, Shinedown surprised Smith by having Kane arrive using his WWE theme song to give him the key to the county during a show in Knoxville. Myers reflected on having the guts to ask Jacobs to come out to his WWE theme song, even though it was advised against.
“I’m on with our security guy on a FaceTime call with Glenn Jacobs, Kane from WWE, and I’m texting our security guy underneath the table, going, ‘Dude, I’m going to ask him the most ridiculous question.’ He’s like, ‘Do not ask him to come out to like his theme.’ I’m like, ‘I’m gonna fucking do it.’ So, I go, Hey, you can absolutely say no to this. We have this huge production, huge video, wall, fire. When you do it, can we stop the show, play your music, and you walk out?’ He’s like, absolutely. So there’s a video of it online,” said Myers.

Kane went into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. He’s now fully dedicated to his political career.
