AEW Ring Announcer Arkady Aura Feels She’s Not Cut Out To Be A Wrestler, But Would Like To Do An Angle
She also shared her story of being signed.
One of the ring announcers for All Elite Wrestling is Arkady Aura. She is the official ring announcer for Collision and sometimes announces for Dynamite in addition to doing some pay-per-view matches.
There was a time when Aura was considering an in-ring career, and she spoke about that while doing a virtual signing for Highspots. She learned that she was not cut out to be an in-ring performer, but added that she would like to do an angle.
“Only in training matches. I never debuted, like a legitimate match… For like two years, I was certain that was what it was gonna be, and I’m grateful for the way my life has turned out. I was not cut out for it, okay? A lot of people still think because I’m in the ring — I just have bigger muscles so people are always like, ‘When are you gonna transition into it?’ And I’m like, ‘Nope. That ship has sailed. We’re done with it.’ Although I would like to do some kind of angle, just for a fun little, you know… just a little something.”
On the Virtual Gimmick Table portion of her Highspots appearance, Aura recounted when she was offered her AEW contract.
“I think this was my second time I was at AEW, and this was actually when I was auditioning still. I didn’t know that I was gonna get signed, and somebody came up to me and they were like, ‘We gotta get photos of you,’ and I was like, ‘Isn’t that something only signed people do?’ And then, yeah, I think they offered me a contract the next time…”
Aura will be ring announcing on the taped episode of AEW Collision, which is airing on TNT on October 11th. Fightful will have written and audio/video coverage of that show.
