Rossy Ogawa Addresses Talent Departures From Marigold, Doesn’t See Point In Trying To Convince Talent To Stay If They Want To Leave

Ogawa details his approach to dealing with talent departures.
There’s an extensive interview piece on the Proresu-TODAY site that is centered around Dream Star Fighting Marigold founder Rossy Ogawa.
Multiple talents have left Marigold in 2025 or are scheduled to leave, such as Bozilla, MIRAI, Naho Yamada, and Ryoko Sakimura. Ogawa stated that he does not see the point in stopping someone from leaving the promotion if that’s what they are set on.
“Honestly, I don’t really think anything about those who decide to quit. It’s been the same… I’m not surprised. We’ve had these conversations many times before. But there’s no point in us stopping someone if they want to quit. Well, the grass is always greener on the other side, right?
Well, there’s no point in pursuing (them)… There’s no point in saying anything. From that point, you just have to switch gears.”
Ogawa added that he does tell wrestlers he wants them to leave the nest. He stated that he wants the promotion to be able to function, even if he’s not involved.
“That’s why I tell the wrestlers, ‘I want you to grow up (leave the nest) from me quickly.’ Then one wrestler says, ‘I’m staying here forever!’ (laughs). But that’s exactly it—I want us to become a promotion that keeps running even without me.”
Coming up for Marigold is the Grand Destiny event on October 26th, which will feature Mayu Iwatani versus WWE’s IYO SKY.
