Jesus Rodriguez Defends MLW’s Fan-First Message After Cesar Duran’s ‘Blood Money’ Jab At WWE
Jesus Rodriguez discusses Cesar Duran taking a shot at WWE’s relationship with Saudi Arabia during MLW Fury Road.
Jesus Rodriguez, previously known as Ricardo Rodriguez in WWE, is now competing in Major League Wrestling. In MLW, Rodriguez is associated with the on-screen authority figures Cesar Duran and Salina De La Renta. At MLW Fury Road, Duran took a shot at WWE and referenced companies moving the locations of their biggest show due to “blood money.”
During a recent interview with Fightful Español’s Luis Pulido, Rodriguez shared his reaction to the verbal dig at WWE.
“Obviously, it’s something that was said, but if we get down to what’s important, it’s the fans. We’re here to entertain the fans, the people, our community. For example, we’re currently heading to Southern California, where there will be a large Latino fan base. There were also a lot of people in Texas. We’re here to entertain our people, so that people love us and we love them too. We give them what they want to see, which is wrestling, extreme wrestling, and women’s wrestling—Shotzi Blackheart, who is doing incredible matches right now. You can have your opinion about what you have or what you wanted to say, but the heart of the message was that we are here for our people, who are the audience, who bring us flavor and give us the energy to move forward. If it weren’t for the people here applauding us, booing us, or whatever, giving us that reaction, we wouldn’t be here. The message is: We are here for you, and we are going to give you good wrestling.“
Elsewhere in the interview, Rodriguez reflected on being an agent in MLW. Read more here.
