Emily Blunt Says Venice Reception For The Smashing Machine Was ‘Terribly Moving’

Emily Blunt reacts Venice’s reception of ‘The Smashing Machine’.

‘The Smashing Machine’ premiered to a great response at the Venice Film Festival on September 1. Specifically, the film received a fifteen minute standing ovation at the festival, prompting some tears from ‘The Final Boss’ himself.

Speaking with KISS for a new interview, Emily Blunt said that the ovation was “terribly moving” because Mark Kerr himself got to experience it.

“It was terribly moving because Mark Kerr was with us, who watched that film with a crowd of people. He had seen it once before alone, just with his brother. I think for him to feel the full embrace of that crowd like, we recognize your life, we recognize that the past can be brutal and we’re with you and we get you. It was just incredible.”

The Rock and Emily Blunt share the screen in Benny Safdie’s ‘The Smashing Machine’, which opens in theaters on Friday, October 3. Check out showtimes near you by clicking here.
