Gabe Kidd Defending IWGP Global Heavyweight Title Against Yota Tsuji At NJPW King Of Pro-Wrestling

Tsuji and Kidd to run it back.

The semi-main event of NJPW Destruction in Kobe saw Gabe Kidd defend his IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against Shingo Takagi.

The background of their match was that Takagi felt Kidd had not been as present as he should be, seeing as how he’s a titleholder in New Japan. Kidd has been appearing for All Elite Wrestling, and his last Global Heavyweight Title match was in July, which was the only time he defended it until Destruction in Kobe.

Kidd was able to best Takagi, and afterward, Yota Tsuji showed up and called Kidd out for a shot at the belt. Kidd accepted and brought up the King of Pro-Wrestling event on October 13th.

Kidd and Tsuji have wrestled twice for the Global Heavyweight Title. The first go-around concluded with a double knockout, and the second match was Kidd’s title victory.
