Brody King Praises AEW And Tony Khan For Letting Wrestlers Be Their Authentic Selves
Brody King comments on being allowed to be his authentic self in AEW.
When the company first started in 2019, one of AEW’s first rules and principles was that the company was “for everyone.” As such, Tony Khan is proud to allow wrestlers to be their authentic selves and openly stand for causes that are important to them. A great example of that was seen at AEW Grand Slam Mexico, where Brody King made headlines by wearing an Abolish ICE shirt. He went on to sell “Abolish ICE” shirts, with all proceeds going to The Local Hearts Foundation.
During the media scrum following AEW All Out, Fightful’s Joel Pearl asked Brody King how important it was for him to be given that freedom. He said that he knows no one on the roster would go out of their way to damage the company’s reputation, and it feels fantastic to be a part of the company that lets you be free.
“It’s really important to be able to express your voice with whatever platform you have in life. To have a boss who lets that happen. I don’t think any of us are going out there and doing anything that would damage the reputation of the company or damage the reputation of Tony. Everything that people like myself, Hangman, or others who have said something in the past or done is all for the betterment of humanity in general. It’s amazing to be part of this company, and thank you, Tony, for letting us be the way we are.”
Tony Khan would reiterate that wrestlers are not sharing the company’s views, but it is essential to allow them to share what is important to them. Fans can learn more about Khan’s perspective on the matter here.
