JBL Praises Natalya For Reinventing Herself Outside WWE As Nattie Neidhart
John Bradshaw Layfield comments on the way that Natalya has reinvented herself outside of WWE.
Natalya is a stalwart of the WWE women’s locker room. Having been on the main roster of WWE since 2008 and been employed by the company for two decades, Natalya is not only building her legacy, but carrying on the legacy of the Hart family and the legendary names of her uncles Bret Hart, Owen Hart, “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith, her father Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, and many more.
Recently, Natalya has gotten the opportunity to work outside of WWE while still being with the company. In her matches outside of WWE TV, she wrestles as Nattie Neidhart, a more no-nonsense version of the character she has portrayed for years. She has brought this vision for her persona to Lucha Libre AAA. As part of her AAA matches, JBL has been given the opportunity to call the action.
Speaking on the latest Something to Wrestle podcast, Bradshaw praised the reinvention of Natalya. He commended her for stepping outside of her comfort zone, rebuilding something in her own image, and being willing to take these chances despite having a long-term contract with WWE.
“I have really enjoyed it the two times that I’ve called the matches. For one, I was really good friends with her dad, Jim, and I am so proud of her because of my love for her father, and I remember when she came in,” he said. “She’s done something to reinvent herself, and she’s done that by herself. I have a lot of respect and admiration for that. That’s cool to me. That really takes something in you, that you’re willing to step outside of your comfort zone and go do some things that you’re not making incremental money for. You may be getting a little bit, you may be getting a little extra exposure, but you can sit back and keep your guaranteed contract. Nattie has really done some great stuff, and she’s found a way to reinvent yourself without having to go through a dramatic makeover. It’s simply Natalya to Nattie, and that’s really cool to me.”
Becky Lynch has called for the presentation of Nattie Neidhart on WWE TV as well. Check out those comments here.
