Since making his WWE debut, El Grande Americano has been a character that has drawn mixed reactions from fans. Several wrestlers have speculated on the identity of El Grande Americano, but with several versions of El Grande running around on WWE programming, it could only get more complicated trying to find out his true identity.

The latest wrestler to speculate on El Grande Americano’s identity is one of the greatest Luchadores of all time, Rey Mysterio. In a new interview with the RAW Recap, Rey was asked about El Grande Americano.

“I think that El Grande Americano might be that wrestler that came early in the 1930s or is a descendant from that was the first wrestler to bring a mask into Mexico, into Lucha Libre. So I think that’s where the story goes. I think he is- He is claiming that he is like the official luchador, El Grande Americano. Overall, he does have talent. I’m not going to deny it. Is he Mexicano or Latino or Hispano? I’m going to scratch my head on that one. I don’t know.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Rey commented on the possibility of his son Dominik becoming AAA Mega Champion. You can read more about that here.
