Bishop Dyer: I Had Gotten A New Contract Before Royal Rumble 2020, It Was A Good Time Against Roman Reigns
Bishop Dyer, previously known as Baron Corbin in WWE, reflects on the peak of his WWE run and his time working with Roman Reigns.
The pairing faced off in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at the 2020 WWE Royal Rumble. This would be one of Corbin’s last major matches on top of the WWE card on a big-time PLE. However, several factors contributed to Bishop Dyer’s happiness at the time, not least of which was the perceived job security that came with having recently signed a new contract before the event.
“We really were. When you get to go out and be in the crowd and do all that, it makes it a lot of fun. Sometimes, when you’re in those huge venues, the sound is weird because it goes up instead of coming down or on top of you. Being out in the crowd and getting put through the tables and having Ziggler and Bobby Roode helping me, and getting speared on top of the dugout in front of all those people. The match was awesome. I had also gotten a new contract right before the show started, so I was in a super good mood and super happy. Everything for that match, the stars aligned, and it was so fun.”
Bishop Dyer also reflected on when Vince McMahon wanted dog food poured on an extra during his time at WWE. This also played a role in his rivalry with Roman Reigns, as they were on opposite sides of several Loser Eats Dog Food matches, including one that was broadcast on TV. Bishop Dyer has recently joined forces with fellow former WWE talent Donovan Dijak in MLW, where the two now compete as a tag team known as The Skyscrapers. The duo, who currently hold the MLW World Tag Team Titles, is scheduled to appear at MLW Fightland, taking place on September 13 in Texas. Learn more about that event here.
