Tony Khan discusses the growth of the AEW women’s division.

Over the past year, AEW has seen a growth in their women’s division that has seen stars like Mercedes Mone emerge, with talent like Toni Storm still being at the top of the division despite it’s growth. The division continues to add new stars and stories, with the likes of Thekla and Queen Aminata coming in as even newer blood to the division.

While speaking during the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door media scrum, Tony Khan spoke about the growth of the AEW women’s division, noting that they have had more great rivalries and matches this past year than ‘maybe the past five years combined’.

“The quality of the wrestlers is much better than when we started. The roster right now is ten times better than when we launched. I believe it’s the quality of the wrestling. That’s what I always said, as we build the quality of the roster and build the rivalries and great matches…this past year, we’ve had more great rivalries and matches in AEW women’s wrestling than maybe the past five years combined, which is pretty incredible. I’m very proud of them. It starts at the top with the champions.”

Elsewhere in the same media scrum, Tony spoke about the possibility of Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm facing off in a main event of an AEW PPV. You can read more about that here.
