Brian Cage ‘Kind Of’ Regrets Having Two Surgeries In Short Timespan, Thinks It Slowed Down His Healing Process

Brian Cage speaks about his recovery from his operations.
Back in April, Brian Cage underwent surgery for a knee injury, and then in June, he underwent another surgery on his other knee.
While guest appearing on the Hitting The Turnbuckle Podcast, Cage spoke about his recovery from his surgeries. He said it may have been to his detriment to have the surgeries in the short window that he did. He added that he ‘kind of’ regrets it.
As far as a timetable on when he’ll be back in the ring, Cage does not want to provide that because he does not want anyone to know.
“And then I elected to get the second surgery done on my right knee because it was an operation I was going to get — I kept postponing, and in my head — it was like last October, I was like, alright, maybe I’ll just wait until All In this year, and then I can go out and get the operation, and then when this injury happened and I was already out, I was like, oh, shoot, I’m already out. F it. Let’s just get both of ‘em done right now. I was trying to be proactive and save time. But it’s almost been kind of my detriment now I think getting them so close together. I feel like it’s kind of the reason why I’ve had these little bit of setbacks and slow down in the healing process so, kind of regret it a little bit. I mean, in a perfect world, I’d have chosen to done it a little bit later but, I got two dates as an option. One was far too soon and one was way too late so, I went with sooner than later and now we’re just dealing with that. I haven’t given anybody a timeline just because I don’t want anybody to know any timeline at all.”
Before Cage went away for his surgeries, he was one-half of the Murder Machines with Lance Archer. Cage shared that earlier this year, they were supposed to clash with the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin).
“I don’t know. It was supposed to have happened at the beginning of the year (match against The Hurt Syndicate), and then, it was teased, at least to us… Nothing was ever in place to happen again. I don’t know. There’s a lot of rumors that we were gonna work them, and then I got hurt but… they wanted to work with us and obviously, we wanted to work with them.”
In 2024, Cage revealed that his AEW contract had ‘about six years’ left on it.
