TJP Wants Hechicero To Join United Empire, ‘He Reminds Me Of Mil Mascaras’

TJP discusses potentially recruiting someone from CMLL into the United Empire.

TJP has been the leader of United Empire since Will Ospreay departed NJPW to become a full-time AEW wrestler. TJP has been a world Travel wrestler for decades and is scheduled to compete in the upcoming CMLL International Grand Prix. Before the event, TJP participated in a media scrum for CMLL.

During the interviews, Fightful Español’s Luis Pulido asked the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion if there was anyone on the CMLL roster that he was thinking about potentially recruiting to his faction. TJP named AEW regular and top Luchador Hechicero as a name he wishes he could convince to join the Empire.

“Oh, man, I wish I could, I wish I could convince Hechicero to join us. We had the opportunity to share a ring just recently in a card in Tijuana and and, you know, I had told him that I really admire that he’s got such a catch wrestling and yaveo style of wrestling, because that’s what I’m best at, and that’s my personal interest, and I really admire that.

“He’s a big wrestler. He’s a bona fide heavyweight. I feel like we could always use another heavyweight for one, and I like his style. I told him, it reminds me a lot of — when I was younger, I really admired Mil Mascaras in the 1970s era, when he was very much a ground technician wrestler, going over to Japan and being in Mexico. I told him that he reminds me a lot of him, because everything he does is rooted in technical wrestling. So I wish we could convince him, but that might be a little tough. I don’t know, we’ll see.”

Hechicero is currently a member of the Don Callis Family in All Elite Wrestling.
