Konosuke Takeshita And Yota Tsuji Advance To Semifinals Of NJPW G1 Climax 35
Konosuke Takeshita and Yota Tsuji are headed to the semifinals of the NJPW G1 Climax 35 tournament.
Tsuji defeated Shota Umino in his quarterfinal match, finishing him off with the Gene Blaster. Tsuji, who finished third in A Block, will face EVIL in the semifinals of the tournament. EVIL topped A Block during round robin competition.
EVIL defeated Tsuji during round robin action, scoring a victory on night two of the tournament.
On the other side of the bracket, Konosuke Takeshita advanced to the semifinals with a victory over David Finlay. The finish saw Takeshita hit Finlay with Raging Fire. Takeshita finished third in B Block during round robin competition. He will face Zack Sabre Jr, who topped B Block, in the semifinals. ZSJ is the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
ZSJ defeated Takeshita on night eight of the tournament during round robin play.
The semifinals will take place on Saturday, August 16th, with the finals taking place on Sunday, August 17. The winner of the G1 Climax earns a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleKingdom 20.
