Zack Sabre Jr, Konosuke Takeshita, Shota Umino Advance To NJPW G1 Climax 35 Playoffs

Zack Sabre Jr, Konosuke Takeshita, and Shota Umino are headed to the playoffs in the NJPW G1 Climax 35 tournament.

ZSJ, the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, topped B block with a 7-2 record and 14 points. His two losses came against Shota Umino and Ren Narita.

Umino finished second in the block, winning on the final night of round robin action against Great-O-Khan to finish with a 6-3 record and 12 points. Konosuke Takeshita also finished with 12 points, defeating Ren Narita in the main event of night 16 to secure his spot in the playoffs. It was a win-and-in scenario for both Takeshita and Narita. Umino finishes above Takeshita by virtue of the tiebreaker, as Umino defeated Takeshita on night 14.

ZSJ will receive a bye to the semifinals.

Umino will face Yota Tsuji, who finished third in A Block, in the quarterfinals, while Takeshita will face David Finlay, who finished second in A Block, for a chance to advance to the semifinals.

EVIL topped A Block and will also receive a bye to the semifinals.

The quarterfinals take place on August 14.
