MJF Beats Averno, Wins CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title

MJF won his first title in CMLL against Averno on the August 1, 2025, edition of CMLL Viernes Espectacular in Arena Mexico.

MJF gets another accolade to his name.

Headlining the August 1, 2025, edition of CMLL Viernes Espectacular was Averno defending his CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title against AEW’s MJF.

After a tough battle between the two super heels in their respective companies, MJF ended up outlasting Averno by shattering his knee with a half-crab and winning the title.

This is MJF’s 14th singles title reign of his career, his first title with CMLL, and his first Light Heavyweight Title win of his career.

Averno held the belt for 491 days and made five title defenses in his first and only title reign with the belt.

Not the only title MJF could have in his possession, as he has a guaranteed contract for the AEW World Title that he can make effective at any time of his choosing.
