AJ Styles Returns To TNA At Slammiversary, Embraces New X Division Champion Leon Slater

Slater was embraced by one of the wrestlers he looked up to.
One of the title bouts on the marquee for TNA Slammiversary was the X Division Championship bout between Leon Slater and the champion Moose.
After Slater picked up the victory to become the youngest X Division Champion in company history, he was joined by the first-ever X Division Champion, two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion, and current WWE talent A.J. Styles. It was the first time Styles appeared for TNA since December 2013.
Styles used his ‘Get Ready To Fly’ theme, and the crowd sang the lyrics. Styles embraced Slater.
He stated that there was a time when people said he may not be able to come back to TNA, but here he is. Styles said the talent in TNA is better than ever, and the lights are bigger than they’ve ever been for the promotion. He told Slater that he earned the X Division Title. Styles said guys like Slater make him love what the wrestling business is about.
Styles named past members of the X Division such as Jerry Lynn, Amazing Red, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, and Frankie Kazarian. He told Slater that he is the future and the division is in ‘phenomenal hands.’ Styles then raised Slater’s hand to close the segment.
