Yota Tsuji Shares That NJPW Trainees Are Not Allowed In Locker Room Area Until They Make In-Ring Debut

Tsuji shares a note about trainees and talks David Finlay.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has officially kicked off its 2025 G1 Climax tournament. Going into the tourney, interviews were conducted with the participants.

One of the names interviewed by NJPW1972.com was Yota Tsuji. He talked about David Finlay, whom he’ll be facing on August 7th. Tsuji said Finlay has so much class as a wrestler.

“I’ve won my last three against him, so I think we have good chemistry, as far as I’m concerned (laughs). But his technical ability, his speed and definitely his stamina is incredible. He has so much class as a wrestler.”

The winner of the G1 Climax will go on to secure a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Past winners have gotten their shot at Wrestle Kingdom.

The 2026 Wrestle Kingdom show is going to feature the in-ring debut of Olympic Gold medalist Aaron Wolf. Tsuji spoke about Wolf and said he has not met him yet because trainees are not allowed in the locker room until after they debut.

“No, I haven’t (met Aaron Wolf). I know he was in the building (at Tanahashi Jam) but I didn’t get the chance to see him before the show, since I tend to run on Mexico time (laughs). And guys aren’t allowed in the locker room area until after they debut…”

Tsuji clashed with SANADA on the opening day of the G1. Coverage of the show is available here on Fightful.
