Carlos Silva Says Islanders Co-Owner Jon Ledecky Was Great To Work With For TNA Slammiversary Promotion

Carlos Silva is amped up for TNA Slammiversary.

The promotion’s biggest show of the year will take place at the UBS Arena in New York on Sunday, July 20. The card features top names from TNA like Joe Hendry, Mike Santana, Mustafa Ali, Masha Slamovich, and the Hardy Boys.

Names from NXT like Trick Williams and Jacy Jayne are set to wrestle on the show as well. In addition to that, AJ Styles will make a special appearance.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, TNA President Carlos Silva was asked about the difficulties of promoting a show like Slammiversary.

“Look, when you’re throwing a big party, you want people to show up. We’re all in the live events business and you always want people to show up for your party. It’s a big, new awesome arena at UBS. We did some great promotion with some wrestlers during some Islander games leading up to this. John Ledecky and his team there have been great to work with. But I think whenever you shoot for a big stage, it always makes you a little bit nervous. I think that’s a good thing. We talk about it a lot as athletes and performers and business people that it’s good to be nervous. That means that you care. I woke up nervous this morning. I mean, it’s Wednesday, the show’s Sunday night. We’re still trying to push and make things happen and bring even some new surprises to the arena. Then certainly we want to continue filling up the last few seats that we’ve got. So everyone’s hard at work, but it’s going to be great in an awesome new arena.”

Silva went on to praise the card, saying that he’s excited to see the UBA Arena erupt with excitement.

“Every single one. I mean, thank you for the review of that because I was going to hit it. I was going through it in my brain as you were as you were asking. That’s the thing. every match is like, ‘Oh, my God, that’s gonna be another great—’ ‘My God, there’s another match.’ ‘My God, it’s not just a great match. It’s a ladder match.’ ‘Oh, geez. It’s title for title. What’s gonna happen here?’ I think the team has done a great job working with our partners at WWE and NXT to build the card. I think it’s gonna just keep building as the night goes on. I think as the ladder match is undercard, if you will, it’s just gonna accelerate the excitement right into that last title match with Trick and Joe and Santana. It’s been building. It’s been so great on the CW these last couple of weeks. We’ve gotten to see so many, so many moments that are building it. I happen to be down at in Atlanta when they did the contract signing and that there was some great tension around the contract signing too. So I’m just excited for the whole night to build and have UBS Arena just erupt with some excitement and it being a phenomenal night, like you said.”
