Triple H Comments On CM Punk Apologizing To Saudi Arabia, Says It’s A Privilege To Watch Him Grow As A Person
Triple H discusses CM Punk’s first match in Saudi Arabia, his final match with John Cena, and the apology Punk issued to the people of Saudi Arabia and The Miz for a tweet he posted six years ago.
At the WWE Night of Champions Kickoff in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, CM Punk apologized to the people of Saudi Arabia and to The Miz for a tweet that he made in 2019 telling Miz to “suck a blood money-covered dick in Saudi Arabia.”
Punk said it was just a crabby tweet and was never anything against the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. CM Punk then went on to headline WWE Night of Champions the following night, losing to John Cena in a match for the WWE Championship.
Following the event, Paul “Triple H” Levesque discussed the match between Punk and John Cena, as well as commenting on Punk’s apology and his personal growth.
“If you’d have told me 10 years ago that CM Punk would be here in Saudi for the WWE, I would have thought you’re out of your mind. But people grow, people change, people evolve, and they learn, and they learn a lot in life. Not only was I privileged to watch them this week as they prepared for this fight, I was privileged to watch two men grow as people, especially CM Punk. I was privileged to watch him grow as a human being, to step out here and apologize to the people of Saudi Arabia, to just cherish where he is at in life and his career and the things he gets to do and the opportunities that he has. I was incredibly proud of him,” he said during the WWE Night of Champions post-show.
Paul Levesque also spoke about WWE returning to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble. Learn more about that here.
