From the Ring to the Racetrack: WWE Wrestlers Who Love Horses

When it comes to WWE, horses aren’t the first thing that comes to mind, right? After all, these body-slamming athletes are as far as it’s possible from the equine world. But believe it or not, quite a few wrestling superstars have a soft spot for horses.

We don’t blame them. After all, we are talking about beautiful creatures that are peaceful and at the same time aggressive, which gives you that thrill and adrenaline rush. Plus, horse racing is a prestigious sport that is often appealing to athletes just because it’s like a show for all celebrities.

So, yes, the overlap between WWE and horse culture isn’t really surprising. But the question is, who are the WWE stars that are true equine fans, whether it is attending horse racing events or even owning a horse themselves.

Charlotte Flair

We’ll start with “The Queen” herself. Charlotte Flair may be one of the biggest female wrestlers ever, but outside of the ring, she’s been known to spend time with horses. Quite an unusual hobby, don’t you think?

He has a background rooted in athleticism and tradition (she is Ric Flair’s daughter, after all); Flair’s appreciation for strength and power easily translates into a love for horses.

But she doesn’t brag about it. Charlotte doesn’t visit popular horse racing events or get into the equine spotlight. She is visiting ranches and expressing her love and appreciation for horses on social media, and her videos are going viral.

She even owns a couple of horses, but she uses them mostly for casual rides. She is low-key with it, not looking for drama and adrenaline, and mostly uses horses as a way to relax from the buzzing WWE world.

Mickie James

Next, we have another female WWE star who is also a dedicated horse lover. She didn’t pick u the hobby after fame. She was a true equine lover even before becoming a WWE star.

But where does this love for horses come from? Well, she was raised on her grandmother’s horse farm in Virginia, where Mickie was competing in rodeos and other equestrian events before she ever climbed a turnbuckle. Her grandmother even bought her a horse at the age of 11.

She even still owns horses today (Rhapsody, Bunny, and Casanova) and has been quite vocal about her dream of running a horse training facility, which sounds like the perfect retirement plan. After all, WWE athletes don’t have a long-lasting career, so they have to think quickly.

Just like Flair, she doesn’t attend flashy events like the Kentucky Derby, or at least the paparazzi haven’t spotted her yet. Her horse hobby leans more towards relaxation.

Frank “Trailer Park Trash” Miller

Now here’s a story with a real twist. Frank Miller, better known in wrestling circles as “Trailer Park Trash,” swapped the mat for the paddock in a big way. After retiring from wrestling, he didn’t just ride off into the sunset—he started training racehorses. Real ones. At Churchill Downs, no less.

And he’s not just dabbling. Miller has trained over 35 winning horses and earned more than $700,000 in prize money. That’s not a side gig—that’s a second career. For Miller, the racetrack became just as competitive as the wrestling ring, but with different stakes and a whole lot more hay.

Maybe his horses are a good choice for an Exacta bet. After all, he has proven to be a good racehorse trainer.

Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle, an Olympic gold medalist and wrestling legend, is another name tied to the racing world—at least as a fan. He’s been spotted at Derby events and has even dabbled in breeding discussions.

But more than anything, he seems to enjoy the culture of horse racing. Betting smart, watching the form, and soaking up the pageantry—it’s right up his alley. And as someone who spent years balancing athletic performance with mental focus, you can see why the strategy behind racing might appeal to him.

Bianca Belair & Montez Ford

This one’s a little different. Bianca Belair and Montez Ford may not be racing horses or riding trails, but they’re definitely part of the culture. In 2022, they made headlines for showing up at the Kentucky Derby dressed to the nines. Big hats, bright colors, and all the energy of a WrestleMania entrance, but with southern elegance.

They even surprised Bianca’s mom with Derby tickets—a gesture that spoke volumes about how much they value the experience. For this couple, the racetrack isn’t about hooves and horsepower; it’s about celebration, community, and style.

The Undertaker

And then there’s Mark Calaway, a.k.a. The Undertaker. On screen, he was the stuff of nightmares—grim, silent, and cloaked in darkness. Off screen? Total cowboy. The man owns a ranch in Texas, loves horses, and spends a lot of his post-WWE life riding with his wife and daughter.

He even once made a surprise wrestling entrance on horseback, much to the delight of fans who knew his love for western culture. For The Undertaker, horses aren’t a trend or a fan service moment—they’re part of who he is. Quiet strength, reliability, discipline… you can see why he gets along with them.

So, are you surprised to see so many WWE stars with a soft spot for horses?
