Coffey looks back fondly on NXT UK.

As WWE was launching its NXT U.K. brand in 2018, one of the talents brought in to be part of it was Joe Coffey.

He was part of the brand until 2022 before moving to the stateside NXT. As Coffey was guest appearing on Refin’ It Up, he spoke about being part of NXT U.K. during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed his opinion that it was the best pro wrestling product during that time.

“I loved NXT UK. I think especially in that COVID-era, it was the best professional wrestling product on the planet and I will hang my hat on that. The in-ring stuff was great. It was just top notch… One of the shining ones obviously was Ilja (Dragunov) versus GUNTHER now, and being in an empty arena, I felt as if it made me a better professional because you weren’t waiting for crowd moments, you weren’t waiting for, you know, taking that beat. You had to make it look as real as possible and I thought that was another good strength…”

There was a period before NXT U.K. resumed shows during the pandemic that which Coffey had been suspended. His name surfaced in the #SpeakingOut movement. There were multiple male pro wrestlers accused of sexual assault and/or harassment.

Coffey returned to in-ring action for the brand in November 2020.
