Deonna Purrazzo Says Having A Rematch With Mayu Iwatani Would Be Amazing
Deonna Purrazzo wants to run it back.
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is rapidly approaching, and fans are already buzzing about potential crossover matches. AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm has called out Mina Shirakawa, and Deonna Purrazzo has her sights set on another STARDOM star.
Speaking with Brad Norton for Dexerto, Deonna Purrazzo commented on who she wants to face at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. She noted that she holds “grudges” before she recalled losing to Mayu Iwatani in Ring of Honor in 2018.
“Iwatani has always been phenomenal. We got to wrestle a bit when I was in Stardom, also way back in the day she beat me in the Ring of Honor tournament to crown a women’s champion at the time. She kicked me out of the tournament back then and I hold a grudge, so that would be amazing,” Purrazzo said.
Iwatani is one of STARDOM’s top stars; she is the reigning IWGP Women’s Champion, and she is a former Artist of STARDOM Champion, among other accolades.
Purrazzo recently defeated Thunder Rosa on The Buy In ahead of AEW Double or Nothing.
